JAMES WEBB SPACE TELESCOPE

Firstly we need to know about the space telescope. It is a telescope which is placed in outer space and used to observe astronomical objects. And also used to study different types of light phenomenon like Aurora lights and to study hottest and most explosive object.

Currently, NASA had launched a space telescope named as JAMES WEBB SPACE TELESCOPE [JWST] . It was made by international collaboration among NASA, the European Space Agency, and the Canadian Space Agency. It works as a replacement of Hubble Space Telescope. JWST was launched on 25 December 2021 on Arian Flight VA256. Firstly it was named as Next Generation Space Telescope and after some time name change to James Webb Space Telescope. There are some properties of JWST are Mass- 6161.4kg , Dimensions- 20.197m×14.162m , Power- 2KW. It operates in a Halo orbit, circling around a point in space known as the Sun-Earth Lagrange Point, approx 1500000km beyond Earth orbit around the Sun.

JWST has four key goals:


● To Search for light from the first stars and galaxies that formed in the Universe after the Big Bang.
●To study galaxy formation and evolution.
●To understand Star formation and Planet formation.
●To study planetary systems and the origins of life.

On 24 January 2021,Monday NASA announced that the JWST had reached the perch from which it could spend as much as 20 years in Survillance of the cosmos. And start working there.

AURORA: THE LIGHT OF POLES

Space view of Aurora Lights  Firstly, we need to know about the aurora. Auroras are the light which is produced naturally by collision of charge particles with gasses molecules present in the atmosphere. Predominantly sun in high latitude region like arctic and Antarctic. This light produces always at poles because magnetic field of earth is stronger on the poles and also the density of magnetic field lines is high there. Thus, a large number of charge particles found at the poles. The charge particles collide with the gasses to making them excited that cause  coloured visible light. When the charge particle collides with oxygen molecules then green light is emitted mostly but sometimes it produce red light and when collides with nitrogen molecules then more pink , orange or red colours emitted.
